Purpose and Background
This webinar discusses alternative designs for anchorage to concrete. For seismic loading, ACI 318-14, Chapter 17 describes requirements for anchoring structures and elements to concrete, but it also identifies certain types of anchorage not subject to those regulations. Additionally, engineers oftentimes want to find simpler solutions. This webinar illustrates these alternate anchorages and shows how to meet code requirements.
Primary Discussion Topics
- Alternative designs and code compliance
- Anchorages subject to ACI 318-14, Chapter 17
- Alternative Anchorages
Learning Outcomes and Benefits
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain how alternative designs comply with the code
- Explain the specifics of ACI 318-14
- Design anchorages not subject to ACI 318-14, Chapter 17
- Discover alternatives
- Recognize anchorage methods not addressed in the code
- Design efficient anchorage systems outside of ACI 318-14, Chapter 17
- Explain the intent of ACI 318-14, Chapter 17
- Defend alternative anchorage designs to code officials
Assessment of Learning Outcomes
Students' achievement of the learning outcomes will be assessed via a short post-assessment (true-false, multiple choice and fill in the blank questions).
Intended Audience
- Structural engineers
- Civil engineers
- Building officials and plans examiners
- Pre-manufactured anchorage system engineers
Webinar Outline

How to Earn your CEUs/PDHs and Receive Your Certificate of Completion
To receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete a short on-line post-test and receive a passing score of 70% or higher within 1 year of purchasing the course.
How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?
1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
