INSTRUCTOR: Matthew Johnson, P.E., PTOE, PTP
Course Length: 1.5 Hours
Sponsored by ASCE's Transportation and Development Institute and ASCE Continuing Education.
An analysis is only as good as the data used. To this end, traffic data collection analysts need to understand how the data is collected, what the limitations of the collection methodology are, and how to detect problems with the data. This webinar explores traffic data collection technologies and scenarios. It also discusses how to create traffic data collection plans, spotting data discrepancies, understanding how to create cost effective data collection plans, and how to validate collected data.
Purpose and Background
For any study, a significant amount of money is set aside for data collection. As with all resources, this money should be used wisely so that the necessary amount, and quality, of data can be obtained for the least amount of resources. Understanding how the data is collected will help the engineer plan for the data collection. Understanding how the data is collected, and the collection's limitation, will help the engineer recognize a discontinuity in the data received.
Primary Discussion Topics
- Traffic data collection technologie
- Traffic data collection scenarios
- Creating traffic data collection plans
- Spotting data discrepancies

How to Earn your CEUs/PDHs and Receive Your Certificate of Completion
To receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete a short on-line post-test and receive a passing score of 70% or higher within 1 year of purchasing the course.
How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?
1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
