Purpose and Background
Nonbuilding structures are used extensively in industrial facilities all over the world. Many of these industrial facilities are located in areas of high seismicity. Chapter 15 of ASCE 7-16 contains extensive requirements for the seismic design of nonbuilding structures. Knowledge of the requirements and application of ASCE 7-16 Chapter 15 is essential for any structural engineer involved in the design of industrial structures and facilities.
