Field compaction consists of systematically placing soil at a project site to create engineered fill which meets the specification developed by performing laboratory compaction on similar soil samples. The fill is placed thin layers of loose lift and compacted by the suitable equipment to achieve desired specification in terms of maximum dry density and optimum moisture content. Corrective measures are taken if the desired specifications are not met. This video presents steps involved in compaction of soils in the field, various types of equipment used for field compaction, and how to take corrective measures.
