Purpose and Background
The hydrogen economy is growing and facing both opportunities and challenges every day. Many organizations with years of hydrogen experience are entering sectors they haven’t previously been involved in such as retail sales with hydrogen distribution or alternative power production. Other organizations, without hydrogen experience, are seeing opportunities for vertical integration with renewable energy companies producing clean hydrogen from solar and wind. As the hydrogen economy continues to grow, safety must keep pace with the expansion.
This presentation will provide a synopsis of the growth of the hydrogen economy and then present the unique hazards associated with hydrogen. At the conclusion, an overview of technical codes, guidance, and best practice associated with the design of buildings and infrastructure related to the hydrogen economy will be provided.
Learning Outcomes and Session Benefits
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the hazards in the hydrogen economy and the tools available to evaluate associated risks.
