Purpose and Background

This presentation introduces the audience to the recently published ASCE Manual of Practice 156. It provides an overview of the contents of the manual:

• Navigation channel sedimentation issues
• Strategies and solutions to sedimentation problems in channels
• Available prediction methods
• Best practices for predicting navigation channel sedimentation responses.

A case study from the manual that illustrates sedimentation problems and approaches to identify solutions will also be discussed.

• Identify key navigation channel sedimentation issues outlined in the ASCE Manual of Practice 156.
