Description
Accurate and detailed bridge inspections serve as a basis to evaluate the nation’s aging infrastructure. Agencies and bridge owners rely on the National Bridge Inspection Standards to maintain uniform findings determined by qualified inspectors using established bridge inspection protocols. Data from these field inspections determine bridge safety and help prioritize maintenance and/or replacement programs for our transportation systems. This webinar explains the basics of some of the commonly made errors during the bridge inspection process. This webinar will also include a very brief discussion on inspection guidelines and inspection personnel criteria by referring participants to specific Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and National Highway Institute (NHI) references. Course topics will include the five most common errors made during bridge inspections, examples of the errors, and recommendations to avoid these errors. Several examples will be presented, illustrated with pictures and diagrams.
