Course Length: 4 Hours
Purpose and Background
There is a strong connection between how we plan for growth and development and the infrastructure needed to serve it. This on-demand seminar provides a history of land use planning in the U.S. to enable engineers to achieve a basic foundation of the land use planning process. It also walks the engineer through the land use planning process and provides examples of common sustainable land use planning principles and tools. In doing so, participants will achieve a greater working knowledge of how to design infrastructure systems that encourage and support sustainable life styles; preserve and sustain native species, human heritages, and social opportunities; and enhance sustainable economic opportunities.
Assessment of Learning Outcomes
Students' achievement of the learning outcomes will be assessed via a short post-assessment (true-false, multiple choice and fill in the blank questions).
