“The teleconference method allows the audience to see this webinar straight from my office, without having to travel. I have attended many ASCE webinars and find that ASCE knows how to put together an effective webinar.”—Anonymous Attendee
Purpose and Background
This webinar explains the importance of sediment transport modeling, how sediment transport in HEC-RAS works and how it relates to normal hydraulic calculations. Erosion, transport, and deposition of sediment are natural processes that provide both problems and opportunities. Prediction of sediment processes is often important in watershed, flood management, restoration, and environmental studies. Numerical modeling of these processes can be used to estimate the response of rivers and reservoirs under various conditions (e.g., pre- versus post-project). This webinar provides an introduction to sediment transport modeling as implemented in the widely-used software from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, HEC-RAS (River Analysis System).
- Learn about typical applications of sediment transport models
- Know the basic steps that HEC-RAS uses to compute sediment transport
- Learn both the capabilities and limitations of HEC-RAS for sediment transport
- Know what input data is required to execute a sediment analysis in HEC-RAS
- Set up and execute a simple sediment transport model in HEC-RAS
Webinar Benefits

Assessment of Learning Outcomes
Students' achievement of the learning outcomes will be assessed via a short post-assessment (true-false, multiple choice and fill in the blank questions).
How to Earn your CEUs/PDHs and Receive Your Certificate of Completion
To receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete a short on-line post-test and receive a passing score of 70% or higher within 1 year of purchasing the course.
How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?
1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
