System Requirements for Viewing this Course
Sponsored by ASCE Continuing Education and the Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI).
INSTRUCTOR: Nazir Lalani, P.E., M.ASCE
Course Length: 90 minutes
Purpose and Background
Wrong-way movements at entrance ramps and on rural and urban divided highways have resulted in crashes involving serious injuries or deaths for those involved. Although very frequent, the severity and high profile of these crashes have made them a priority for improving highway safety. The proposed Webinar provides a discussion of factors associated with wrong-way movements on unsignalized divided highways and freeways. The divided highway discussion focuses on design, signage, and roadway markings, while the freeway analysis emphasizes the effectiveness of signage with flashing lights. This webinar covers the wrong way driving problems at roundabouts and discusses the latest technology available to combat wrong-way driving. The highly interactive webinar explores measures to reduce collision at the known high crash location. The webinar instructor asks the audience to participate in identifying appropriate measures to reduce collisions at known high crash locations.
