In the past decade or so, airports have witnessed an explosion of information about different facilities and features. Around 2007, FAA embarked on a mission to house the diverse types of data it collects into a central online repository and make it available through a browser to the public. Since the initial tentative steps, FAA’s Airports GIS program is growing in strength every day and this webinar proposes to highlight the current status and accomplishments of the program.
This webinar will present an overview of the use of GIS in Airports. The presenters will include representatives from FAA’s Airports GIS program, representatives from ESRI a pioneer in GIS software and solutions development and from a well know consultant who has extensive experience in this field. The purpose of this webinar is to highlight some of the more popular solutions airports are using along with some emerging trends that are making it even easier and more cost effective.
Primary Discussion Topics
- Current State of FAA’s Airports GIS Program
- ESRI’s out of the box airports tool
- State of the practice of GIS in the Airport environment
Learning Objectives
- Inform the audience of the advances and state of the practice in GIS usage pertinent to the airport environment
- Highlight some of the more popular solutions airports are using
- Make the audience aware that emerging technologies and advancements are making GIS increasingly user friendly and more cost effective
- Demonstrate an out of the box solution (EAT - ESRI’s Airport Toolkit) available commercially today
- Improve stakeholder familiarity and consequently increase use of FAA’s Airports GIS development to better manage the Airport Environment.
Webinar Benefits
- Learn about advances and state of the practice in GIS usage pertinent to the airport environment
- Benefit from hearing about some of the more popular solutions airports are using
- Awareness of the greater user friendly and more cost effective GIS tools available
- Learn about commercially available out of the box GIS software
- Learn to access and use FAA’s Airports GIS development to better manage Airport Environment and Infrastructure.
- Avoid re-inventing the wheel by learning about existing solutions
- Cost effective operations due to greater efficiency of data storage and use
- Improved record keeping and availability
- Managing distribute systems and data geographically

How to Earn your CEUs/PDHs and Receive Your Certificate of Completion
To receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete a short on-line post-test and receive a passing score of 70% or higher within 1 year of purchasing the course.
How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?
1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
