This webinar is part of a 4-part series on The Infrastructure Challenge.
Purpose and Background
This webinar is the first of a four-part series that will discuss the infrastructure challenge we are currently facing and discuss strategies to help close the current gap. The webinar will open with a discussion of the ASCE Grand Challenge to reduce the life cycle cost of infrastructure by 50% by 2025 and foster the optimization of infrastructure investments for society.
This series discusses four major topic areas on closing the infrastructure gap:
- Prioritization
- Process improvement
- Achieving capital efficiency
- Closing the gap
Part 1 - Prioritization, looks at five topical areas - transformative vision; infrastructure needs; classes of factors, portfolio; program and project views; and project selection.
Part 2 - Process Improvement, encompasses eight areas - project initiation; project definition and approval; governance & organization; risk & opportunity; packaging & phasing; execution; O&M; and renewal.
Part 3 - Achieving Capital Efficiency, addresses two key questions - What is capital efficiency? How can it be influenced? - It also provides a look at levers for getting the biggest bang for the buck.
Part 4 - Closing the Gap, begins with defining the gap through life cycle analysis and conclude with some thoughts on how to close the gap and the role of ASCE members.
