Excellent topic and extremely important as we move forward in today's world.
Purpose and Background
Engineering is consistently ranked by the general public in the U.S. as one of the top five ethical professions. Have we tricked the public or is this an honor we have truly earned? When you joined ASCE you made a commitment to subscribe to the ASCE Code of Ethics and even agreed to report any observed violations of the Code. Do you have a copy of and understand this Code. Do you consider ethics only during the hour your state licensing board may require ethics training? Are you aware that ASCE is leading the effort to develop global ethical standards? We have not tricked the public because we take ethics seriously and insist that others do also.
In this webinar, ethics will be carefully defined and you will delve into its origin and evolution. Ethical dilemmas are discussed and you are guided to various sources to aid in decision making. The ASCE Code of Ethics as well as other formal and informal Codes are presented and discussed. The ASCE General Counsel will discuss current hot topics and the Director of International Alliances will discuss Global ethics. Both will be available to take your questions.
Engineering is a proud, honorable, and ethical profession. This webinar allows you to contemplate and focus on the ethics that will guide you and the profession to the continued respect the public and our clients demand. This is the road all must all follow.
