INSTRUCTOR: Stuart G. Walesh, Ph.D., P.E., F.NSPE, Dist.M.ASCE Purpose and BackgroundScience has learned more about the human mind in the past 2 decades than in the past 2 millennia. Practical application of that new knowledge is available to us, as explained by scientist Paul Nussbaum: “The human brain is no longer the domain of academia and medicine.” In other words, it is also our domain. More specifically, we can now study and use brain basics just like we study and use static mechanics, structures, and circuits basics.
This webinar’s premise is that the brain is an instrument and “playing it” effectively demands an understanding of how it works. This is “Neuroscience 101,” and it is immediately applicable by students and practitioners. You can use it to accelerate personal growth, move towards goals, innovate more, improve organizational performance, and enhance service to clients and stakeholders.
The webinar instructor realizes that some potential webinar participants will view this topic as being academic, theoretical, ivory tower, complex, touchy-feely, and/or philosophical. He has received such reactions – until audiences hear what he has to offer. This capitalizes on the combination of what we have learned in recent years about our brains and the intelligence of engineers and similar scientific-technical professionals.
Webinar participants receive a detailed handout on which the webinar will draw. The handout includes all slides and a list of articles, papers, books, websites, and other resource materials.
