Purpose and Background
Pavement markings provide guidance and information to road users for both daytime and nighttime use. The FHWA will likely be issuing its final rule on the new pavement marking retroreflectivity standards this year. At that time, the new requirements and recommendations will be officially adopted through new language added to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). This webinar will describe the FHWA’s proposed changes to the MUTCD, which are expected to add a new requirement that highway agencies establish and implement a method for maintaining minimum levels of retroreflectivity for longitudinal lines.
