Robert G. Pekelnicky, P.E., S.E., M.ASCE
This course is centered on ASCE 41-13 Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Buildings, the national consensus standard for seismic evaluation. The course, however, is much more than a “how-to” guide for the standard. A brief history of how earthquake engineering provisions were applied to existing buildings are discussed. Following is a discussion on performance-based earthquake engineering. Many of the concepts currently used in performance-based earthquake engineering originate in developing the seismic standards of existing buildings.
This course is one of ASCE's new Guided Online Courses that are highly interactive, instructor-led programs in which learners move through a 12-week learning experience with their peers. The content includes video lectures, interactive exercises, case studies, and weekly discussion topics to help master the course material. Unlimited 24/7 accessibility to weekly modules.
